Elements within the GOP conspire for Democrat Perez

New York City lawyer Dan Perez was introduced into Sussex County politics through the mess that is Vernon Township governance.  Perez was brought in by fellow lawyer Kevin Kelly, to overturn the Republican establishment in Vernon, then led by allies of former Freeholder Glenn Vetrano.

The means of that overthrow was classic Bill Kunstler.  Yes, Marxist lawyer William Kunstler.  Perez trained under Kunstler, an avowed Marxist, and was an associate in his law firm.  After Kunstler's death, Perez managed the firm in partnership with Kunstler's law partner, Ron Kuby.

The Kunstler law firm defended members of the Catonsville Nine, Black Panther Party, Weather Underground Organization, the Attica Prison rioters, and the American Indian Movement.  But  Kunstler refused to defend groups like the Tea Party, on the grounds that: "I only defend those whose goals I share. I'm not a lawyer for hire. I only defend those I love."

Kunstler defended Joanne Chesimard (AKA Assata Shakur) who was convicted of murdering a New Jersey State Trooper and who escaped from prison with the help of fellow terrorists.  She is now on the FBI's MOST WANTED list.

In collaboration with Dan Perez' law partner Ron Kuby, Kunstler defended Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman, head of the terrorist group Gama'a al-Islamiyah, responsible for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing; Colin Ferguson, the man responsible for the 1993 Long Island Rail Road shooting; Glenn Harris, a New York City public school teacher who absconded with a fifteen-year-old girl; Nico Minardos, indicted by Rudy Giuliani for conspiracy to ship arms to Iran; and associates of the Gambino organized crime family.

Kunstler trained Perez in hysteria-driven, media-centered political lawyering and Perez learned well.  First, Perez teamed up with Kevin Kelly -- the lawyer for the New Jersey Herald -- to make sure the media coverage lurched his way.  Then, he threw a legal hail-Mary and filed a RICO suit against the GOP leaders in Vernon.  It got plenty of press, made for salacious reading, but was -- so far as the law is concerned -- ridiculous.  But with the right media coverage, it successfully smeared the Vernon GOP and set the stage for a change of government.

Behind it all was a very special interest -- big money, deep pockets -- in the form of the late, great Mr. Mulvihill.  He underwrote the campaign to change the form of government and, through the Herald's Kevin Kelly, hired some of the county's best political consultants to do polling and strategy.  Mulvihill got behind a new team called "Vernon First" which included a gentleman by the name of Joe Tadrick, who ran for Vernon council as a member of that team.  Most of the team got elected too -- but it didn't turn out quite as planned because the new Mayor had a streak of independence that could not be broken.  Bully for him!

Dan Perez went on to represent Republican Kelly and his Democrat colleague in their lawsuit against the Sparta Police Department.  Kelly went on to do pro bono work for a local veterans group active in Vernon.  Favors were given and favors expected.

Perez conducted a personal jihad against former Freeholder Vetrano -- and used his allies on the all-Republican Freeholder Board to land him a coveted position on the Sussex County Community College board.  Perez held that post long enough to gain a bit more publicity (courtesy of the ever-willing Herald) and to ruin the careers (or, at least, attempt to) of a few more Republicans.

Perez became involved in the 2015 Republican primary as the lawyer and political advisor to Assembly candidate Gail Phoebus and to what became known as the "George Graham ticket" of Freeholder candidates Carl Lazzaro and Jonathan Rose.  All were successful, and one of the first acts of the new majority on the Freeholder Board was to appoint Dan Perez to yet another coveted political patronage position -- Commissioner of the SCMUA Board.

In just a few years, New York City lawyer Dan Perez has risen through the ranks of Sussex County Republicans without the need to be a Republican.  His career has been sustained and promoted by Republicans -- with a huge assist from the New Jersey Herald.  This is remarkable, given his associations with a Marxist like Bill Kunstler.  But this is, after all, Sussex County -- where being a "goodfella" is what matters most.

This will be a very interesting election, so stay tuned...

Freeholder Graham tries to pull fast one on taxpayers

Sussex County Freeholder boss George Graham is desperate to change the subject in advance of the Freeholder Board's upcoming September 13th meeting. Remember that at the Board's last meeting, Freeholder Graham wouldn't allow public comment at a session devoted to the $500,000 "review" of the solar project.

Taxpayers were made to grin and bear the fact that in January 2016, Freeholder Graham hired the same lawyer to review the project whose office had signed-off on the project in 2011.  Graham is desperate to hide the fact that this lawyer was deeply conflicted, in the opinion of many.

To get Graham's "version" out, the Freeholder boss turned to his old pal Bill Hayden, a Trenton-based bureaucrat at the New Jersey Department of Transportation.  Hayden, who ran for office in June, is under some stress at work for allegedly running his blog on state time and posting threats about those associated with the Sussex County Republican Party.

To get around this, Hayden's blog announced that it was "under new management" and then promptly went back to doing what the state told him not to do.  Hey, when you are at work -- collecting a salary, benefits, and a pension courtesy of the taxpayers of New Jersey -- you should do what you are supposed to do. . . work!

Taking a page out of convicted Bridgegate felon David Wildstein's book, the blog announced that a new editor named "Dan Haines" was now writing the stories.  In fact -- just like Wildstein's "Wally Edge" (a long dead former New Jersey politician), "Daniel Haines" is long dead too.  He was the 14th Governor of New Jersey (1843-45).  He was born in New York City and died in Hamburg, Sussex County in 1877.  The Facebook page of "editor" Dan Haines has him as being born in New York City and currently residing in Hamburg.  Yes, these idiots are not much on imagination.

Oh, and Governor Haines was a Democrat.  Having a long-dead Democrat politician attack Sussex County Republicans makes a lot of sense, when you remember that George Graham was himself a Democrat -- a Hudson County Democrat, where the dead regularly vote!  Yep, boss Graham sure does a lot of switching --from Democrat to Republican back to Democrat and now to Republican again.  Want to bet what he'll be if Democrat Phil Murphy wins the Governor's office in November?

So the "new management" thing is a lie.  We expect other lies to follow, in what promises to be a sad attempt by Freeholder boss Graham to change the subject from why he wasted $500,000 on a report that nobody is allowed to question in public.

It's sad because it won't work.  The taxpayers of Sussex County are smarter than boss Graham and will demand to know why a 62-page report  -- costing Sussex County taxpayers $500,000 ($8,064 per page) -- never once mentions the role of the office that signed-off on the project.  And why Graham hired the lawyer who ran that office to do the review.  It's the $500,000 question (actually $518,000 and rising) and the people want to know.

Democrat candidates attack local community leader

Today Sussex County Democrats released an attack, on behalf of their legislative candidates, written by Democrat Party operative Fred Cook, of Blairstown.  You may remember that Mr. Cook was the guy who claimed that Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose was guilty of "treason" for opposing President Obama's policies.

In doing so, Mr. Cook was channeling the crazy views of others on this subject:

“All 545 sitting in DC right now are guilty of treason... they should all be indicted, dragged out in chains, the evidence a matter of congressional record and unimpeachable.  And all should be subject to all the consequences the law provides up to the firing squad.  This goes for many members and governors in the 50 state capitals, as well.  Treason. “

Now what do you say to that kind of crazy?

In his most recent attack, Fred "Duane" Cook took aim at Sussex County businessman Andy Mulvihill -- a supporter of numerous community charities in Northwest New Jersey.  Mr. Cook doesn't like Mr. Mulvihill because Mr. Mulvihill is as wealthy as Ms. Kate Matteson, one of Mr. Cook's Democrat candidates for the Legislature, who bragged last year about her "high tax bracket".  Apparently being a Democrat one-percenter is good, but being a Republican one-percenter is bad.  Thanks for the double-standard Duane, errr... Fred.

Duane, sorry, Fred Cook also doesn't like the fact that Mr. Mulvihill is involved in a bank that was formed by a number of Sussex County leaders, in response to the problems that local business people faced in getting credit to finance new businesses or to expand existing businesses.  Many of the larger lenders simply didn't care about increasing opportunities for employment in Sussex County,  so the bank was created so that, neighbor-to-neighbor, people could get the financing they needed to foster economic growth and create jobs in Northwest New Jersey.  The Sussex Democrats think that a bad thing because it's Republicans doing it.  Just because they are spiteful.

Of course, the Sussex Democrats loved mega-one-percenter Jon Corzine, a super-rich Wall Street banker who spent over $100 million to buy elected office.  Yep, go check it out for yourself on Wikipedia -- $100 million.  And these Democrats say they oppose "big money" -- LOL, they are Big Money!

Now the Sussex Democrats, including Duane Cook and the whole Matteson-Trish-Hamilton team are backing another mega-super-dooper-rich one-percenter (a one-percenter of the one-percent) by the name of Phil "I wrecked the economy" Murphy. Yeah, he's another one of those Wall Street bankers -- only this one shares in some of the responsibility for what happened in the run-up to the Great Recession of 2008.  Even his fellow Democrats call him out for being a phony:

"Democrats running in the primary for New Jersey governor on Thursday attacked front-runner Phil Murphy, saying he is using his wealth to buy political support and questioning his progressive stances... the personal cash he's poured into the campaign and his time as an executive at Goldman Sachs.

'We have a candidate who has made the system awash in money. It's obscene the amount of money,' Wisniewski said. 'It's pay-to-play at its worst.'

Murphy, who has put $15 million of his own money into the race so far, denied he bought the backing of New Jersey's 21 influential Democratic county party chairmen, who exercise discretion over ballot positioning.

...Wisniewski also said that Murphy had backed fracking during a speech in Germany, where he served as ambassador for former President Barack Obama, ...Murphy also came under attack for investing in corporations opposed by environmental groups that have backed Murphy. Murphy promised to put his holdings into a blind trust if elected.

Johnson seized on the point, though, telling Murphy that his current progressive stances were contradicted by his investments and previous comments.

'What is it in your time at Goldman Sachs that should give anyone any assurance that the progressive values you're talking about today are progressive values you've acted on at Goldman Sachs,' Johnson asked." (Associated Press, May 12, 2017)

So let's get this straight... a Sussex County community leader who always puts his hand in his pocket to help local charities is no good for starting a bank to help grow businesses and create jobs here in Northwest New Jersey.  Why?  Because he's a Republican.

But a mega-rich Wall Streeter who helped wreck our economy as a top guy at the bank that helped trigger the Great Recession.  He is great!  Why?  Because he's a Democrat.

Got it.

Sounds nuts.

Duane.

Leaked emails drive Phoebus bonkers

Every time a politician gets caught forwarding something they shouldn't, or posting something they shouldn't, they make threats and piss and moan a lot.

In 2011, liberal Democrat Congressman Anthony Weiner shared a sexually explicit photograph of himself via his public Twitter account to a woman who was following him on Twitter.  After several days of claiming that his account had been hacked and that he was the victim, Weiner held a press conference at which he finally admitted doing it.  It emerged that it wasn't the first time he lied and this was only the first of many scandals.

Fast forward to 2015 and Freeholder Gail Phoebus.  Phoebus shared a number of compromising emails with members of her campaign for Assembly, some of which have now surfaced on Watchdog.  Like Weiner, Phoebus is trying to cover up her own stupidity by making irrational claims against others.  And she's even employed a political operation to try to spin it -- just like liberal Democrat Weiner did.

But what can't be denied, is that Gail Phoebus is an Internet moron who carelessly compromised herself.  Here is an example of a document she forwarded around (note that she did so in response to a request for a telephone number).

So here is the NEW tidbit for today.  It indicates that there was some degree of coordination on a SCMUA story -- starting way back in March 2015 -- that ended up with the public smearing of a Sussex County Republican and his replacement on SCMUA by a liberal Obama supporter in January 2016.  The punch line comes at the end.

Finally, we have been receiving a great outpouring of information regarding the business practices of a certain restaurateur who holds public office.  Please keep the information flowing our way.  Those who hold public office are worthy of scrutiny and some of the stories you have been sharing with us are most shocking.

Stay tuned...

Will the Phoebus supporters please grow up

Bill Hayden is the "administrator" of the Gail Phoebus campaign on Facebook.  He and his co-administrator post some pretty idiotic stuff.  Like the faces of prominent Sussex County Republicans photo-shopped onto vaginas or an aerial view of what he thought was the house of a political opponent with the words "target acquired" underneath.  It turned out to be the wrong house and the home of an innocent family with children.

And posting pictures of your handguns on Facebook should not be done if you are going to use the same page to threaten people.  Also, it is not a good idea to claim to have handed out Halloween candy to children from a candy bowl stuffed with automatic magazines and Glock handguns.  This is stupid and it does your cause no good.

In your inarticulate ramblings, you claim to be "conservatives" -- well then act like traditional conservatives and not like juvenile delinquents.  Conservatives don't post pornography, they don't wave their guns around (even metaphorically on Facebook), and they don't write like members of the cast of Deliverance.

Grow up!  And part of that growing up is coming to terms with some basic facts of life.  First, you or your candidate or your Tea Party are not the center of the universe.  You do not get to decide who is conservative or not, or who is Republican or not.   There are many people -- adult people -- who have come before you.  The world didn't begin yesterday, when you decided to show up and vote.

Second, just because you have a personal dislike for elected Republicans like Senator Steve Oroho and Assemblyman Parker Space, that doesn't make them "liberals".  It doesn't work that way.  They have the best pro-Second Amendment, Pro-Life, and consistent conservative voting records in Trenton.  And that is just how it is.

Third, just because you are loud, sport a bull neck, and talk about all your guns, it doesn't mean that you can intimidate anyone into ignoring the actual VOTING RECORDS of these conservatives.  When a Tea Party group ignores a conservative voting record, that doesn't make the conservative a liberal, it means the Tea Party group is liberal or ignorant or both.

In fact, it is your candidate who is being advised by the only genuine liberal on the scene -- a guy who was mentored by that Bill Ayers-loving Marxist William Kunstler, who lobbied Phoebus to vote pro-abortion, and who supported Barack Obama.  Here, check it out...

If you want to have an adult, non-pornographic, rational discussion about policy issues, I'm sure the people whose faces you have photo-shopped onto vaginas will put that aside, consider the source, and then have a constructive discussion with you.  They are adults.  That's what adults do.  You should try it sometime.
