$400M set for road and bridge work, none for NJ Transit

The Record is reporting on legislation sponsored by Senator Steve Oroho and getting fast-tracked approval by the Senate President and Governor that will

appropriate $400 million from the state's Transportation Trust Fund for "immediate bridge and road repairs," but according to the Record the legislation is "notably omitting additional funding for NJ Transit."

The Senate President's office issued the following statement: "The funding will come from existing resources from the [Transportation Trust Fund] and it will be used for state roads, bridges and tunnels in every county in New Jersey.  This will expedite the needed investment in the state’s infrastructure and provide an increase in support for transportation work in the current fiscal year."

The Oroho sponsored legislation is scheduled to receive its first hearing in front of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee on Thursday. You can read the full article here:

SkylandsTea Party pours cold water on Pro-Life priority

Skylands Tea Party president Doug Amedeo took to Facebook over the weekend to trash the Pro-Life movement's top priority for 2017 -- the passage of landmark 20/20 "pain- sensitive" legislation.  This legislation is the work of the 20/20 Project, which was started by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese as an ecumenical movement embracing members representing many religious denominations.  Last October, hundreds of Pro-Life activists gathered at the 20/20 Vision Conference in Scotch Plains for a day of prayer, planning, and workshops.

The goal of the 20/20 Project is to pass legislation to address the scientific fact that unborn babies are pain-sensitive at 20 weeks.  Every other country on earth recognizes this fact except North Korea, China, Vietnam, Singapore, Canada, and the Netherlands.  Senator Steve Oroho is the prime sponsor of legislation in the State Senate, while Assemblyman Parker Space is sponsoring companion legislation in the State Assembly.  Similar legislation has been passed in 14 states and 2017 has been designated as the year of the big push to bring our laws into line with the rest of the civilized world.

According to Amedeo, this legislation is a "dead on arrival bill" that "accomplishes no good" and is only useful as a "photo opportunity."  Does this tea partier even sound Pro-Life?

Having only  recently become involved in political action, we don't expect people like NYC lawyer Doug Amedeo or public employee Bill Hayden to know what other people have been doing for decades.  We don't expect them to know that Steve Oroho and his family were marching for Life since the 1980's.  Or that Steve and Rita Oroho have spent countless hours volunteering for Pro-Life causes and serving on the boards of Pro-Life organizations?  As a legislator, Senator Steve Oroho has a perfect Pro-Life voting record.  Everybody in Trenton knows the negotiating prowess of Senator Oroho -- and as the prime sponsor of the Pro-Life movement's 20/20 "pain-sensitive" legislation he is the leader in getting the number one Pro-Life priority through the Democrat-controlled Legislature.

What a nasty little man Doug Amedeo must be.  He shows up on the scene yesterday, a Johnny-come-lately -- and today he's make shitty little comments about the Pro-Life movement's top priority legislation being "dead on arrival."

And we all know what Amedeo is up to.  He personally hates Steve Oroho and his family, so anything Senator Oroho does is bad.  With self-styled "conservatives" like Amedeo, who needs liberals?

A lot of people are working very hard on 20/20 and we don't need naysayers to pour cold water on their efforts just to score points against Senator Oroho.  We don't remember Amedeo and Hayden showing up to the 20/20 conference to help -- so what gives them the standing to tell us what will pass and what won't?

Sorry, but when is the last time anybody has even seen any of these people in Trenton?  Are they recognizable figures at committee hearings?  Do they ever testify on behalf of good legislation or against bad?  Who are these idiots with their know-nothing prognostications?  Oh, we anointed ourselves with the name "tea party," so therefore that makes us something?  Like hell it does!

These are the same wannabe political bosses who believe that they should determine the relationships of others.  They believe that every elected official should come to them and that they should get to choose who they hire and fire.  And maybe get a little finder's fee in the process perhaps?

But what about their relationships?  Who is watching who they associate with?

Some lawyers associate with people who are literally covered in the blood of their victims.  Why should that be alright?

The president of the Skylands Tea Party represented "feeder funds" connected with Bernie Madoff.  Remember him?

Bernard Lawrence "Bernie" Madoff (born April 29, 1938) is an American fraudster and a former stockbroker, investment advisor, and financier. He is the former non-executive chairman of the NASDAQ stock market, and the admitted operator of a Ponzi scheme that is considered the largest financial fraud in U.S. history...  On March 12, 2009, Madoff pleaded guilty to 11 federal felonies and admitted to turning his wealth management business into a massive Ponzi scheme. The Madoff investment scandal defrauded thousands of investors of billions of dollars. Madoff said he began the Ponzi scheme in the early 1990s. However, federal investigators believe the fraud began as early as the mid-1980s and may have begun as far back as the 1970s. Those charged with recovering the missing money believe the investment operation may never have been legitimate. The amount missing from client accounts, including fabricated gains, was almost $65 billion. The Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) trustee estimated actual losses to investors of $18 billion. On June 29, 2009, Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison, the maximum allowed.

Now we are not sure, but we think that most voters probably know who Bernie Madoff is.  Maybe not.

Perhaps what voters are really longing for is to have a cosmopolitan, New York City lawyer as their self-styled "boss" and prognosticator?

We doubt it.

Oroho calls on Republican legislators to defend Trump

Breaking news from Senator Steve Oroho and Assemblyman Parker Space...

Calling it "a moment of truth" for our party and its leadership, Senator Steve Oroho (R-Sussex, Warren, Morris) called on every Republican legislator to unite in opposition to a Democrat move to "condemn" President Trump's efforts to create greater scrutiny of those entering the United States from countries in which Islamic terrorists are harbored and sustained.

"There are those who have called this a 'Muslim ban' but that is more a term of propaganda than of fact," said Oroho.  "The seven countries targeted by President Donald Trump in his executive order on immigration were initially identified as 'countries of concern' under the Obama administration."

Trump’s order bars citizens from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen from entering the U.S. for the next 90 days.  In December 2015, President Barack Obama signed into law a measure placing limited restrictions on certain travelers who had visited Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria on or after March 1, 2011.

Two months later, the Obama administration added Libya, Somalia, and Yemen to the list, in an effort, the administration said, to address “the growing threat from foreign terrorist fighters.”

"President Trump is simply acting on what earlier administrations have identified as threats to the security of our nation and lives of our people," Oroho explained.

8 USC §1182 (or section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act) is the legal foundation for President Trump's executive order:

“Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”

The Congressional Research Service provides this explanation of the law: https://strongvisa.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/CRS-Pres-Auth-to-Exclude-Aliens.pdf

President Trump's executive orders also address so-called "sanctuary cities" that harbor undocumented persons who are illegally in the United States.  Senator Oroho is the sponsor of Senate Bill S2945, which prohibits a municipality from passing an ordinance to create a sanctuary city and makes it an ethics violation for state or local employees to refuse to comply with a federal immigration enforcement request.  Assemblyman Parker Space is the sponsor of the Assembly version, A1707.

American Conservative Union rates Oroho 95%

Senator Steve Oroho has received a lifetime conservative rating from the American Conservative Union of 95%.  That compares with Senator Mike Doherty's lifetime conservative rating of 96%.  Assemblyman Parker Space has a 94% lifetime rating.  Gail Phoebus was not present for most of the votes and received an "n/a".

Founded in 1964, the American Conservative Union (ACU) is the nation’s original conservative organization. For more than fifty years, ACU has served as an umbrella organization harnessing the collective strength of conservative organizations fighting for Americans who are concerned with liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values, and strong national defense. As America’s premier conservative voice, ACU is the leading entity in providing conservative positions on issues to Congress, the Executive Branch, State Legislatures, the media, political candidates, and the public.

The American Conservative Union evaluates elected officials based on the following beliefs:

- We believe that the Constitution of the United States is the best political charter yet created by men for governing themselves. It is our belief that the Constitution is designed to guarantee the free exercise of the inherent rights of the individual through strictly limiting the power of government.

- We reaffirm our belief in the Declaration of Independence, and in particular the belief that our inherent rights are endowed by the Creator. We further believe that our liberties can remain secure only if government is so limited that it cannot infringe upon those rights.

- We believe that capitalism is the only economic system of our time that is compatible with political liberty. It has not only brought a higher standard of living to a greater number of people than any other economic system in the history of mankind; more important, it has been a decisive instrument in preserving freedom through maintaining private control of economic power and thus limiting the power of government.

- We believe that collectivism and capitalism are incompatible, and that when government competes with capitalism, it jeopardizes the natural economic growth of our society and the well-being and freedom of the citizenry.

- We believe that it is the responsibility of the individual citizen, whenever his inherent rights are threatened from within or without, to join together with other individuals to protect these rights, or, when they have been temporarily lost, to regain them.

- We believe that any responsible conservative organization must conduct itself within the framework of the Constitution; in pursuance of this belief we refuse to countenance any actions which conflict in any way with the traditions of the American political system.

- The American Conservative Union is created to realize these ends through the cooperation in responsible political action, of all Americans who cherish the principles upon which the Republic was founded.

- The American Conservative Union will welcome all Americans who are prepared to fight for the realization and preservation of these principles through political action at the local, state and national level.

Will the Phoebus supporters please grow up

Bill Hayden is the "administrator" of the Gail Phoebus campaign on Facebook.  He and his co-administrator post some pretty idiotic stuff.  Like the faces of prominent Sussex County Republicans photo-shopped onto vaginas or an aerial view of what he thought was the house of a political opponent with the words "target acquired" underneath.  It turned out to be the wrong house and the home of an innocent family with children.

And posting pictures of your handguns on Facebook should not be done if you are going to use the same page to threaten people.  Also, it is not a good idea to claim to have handed out Halloween candy to children from a candy bowl stuffed with automatic magazines and Glock handguns.  This is stupid and it does your cause no good.

In your inarticulate ramblings, you claim to be "conservatives" -- well then act like traditional conservatives and not like juvenile delinquents.  Conservatives don't post pornography, they don't wave their guns around (even metaphorically on Facebook), and they don't write like members of the cast of Deliverance.

Grow up!  And part of that growing up is coming to terms with some basic facts of life.  First, you or your candidate or your Tea Party are not the center of the universe.  You do not get to decide who is conservative or not, or who is Republican or not.   There are many people -- adult people -- who have come before you.  The world didn't begin yesterday, when you decided to show up and vote.

Second, just because you have a personal dislike for elected Republicans like Senator Steve Oroho and Assemblyman Parker Space, that doesn't make them "liberals".  It doesn't work that way.  They have the best pro-Second Amendment, Pro-Life, and consistent conservative voting records in Trenton.  And that is just how it is.

Third, just because you are loud, sport a bull neck, and talk about all your guns, it doesn't mean that you can intimidate anyone into ignoring the actual VOTING RECORDS of these conservatives.  When a Tea Party group ignores a conservative voting record, that doesn't make the conservative a liberal, it means the Tea Party group is liberal or ignorant or both.

In fact, it is your candidate who is being advised by the only genuine liberal on the scene -- a guy who was mentored by that Bill Ayers-loving Marxist William Kunstler, who lobbied Phoebus to vote pro-abortion, and who supported Barack Obama.  Here, check it out...

If you want to have an adult, non-pornographic, rational discussion about policy issues, I'm sure the people whose faces you have photo-shopped onto vaginas will put that aside, consider the source, and then have a constructive discussion with you.  They are adults.  That's what adults do.  You should try it sometime.
